no race in 2015

That’s right.  We are all very sad that there will be no race in 2015, but rest assured we will be back in 2016.  The reason there is no race this year is that at the we were unable to secure a solid date for the race and on our normal date, the first Sunday of November, there was an exciting opportunity for CSUDH and we didn’t want to stand in the way of that event.

about Tri*Carson

Tri*Carson was started in 2010 by Denise Murrufo who at the time was an employee of the City of Carson and had just found a love for Triathlons and convinced the department she worked in (economic development) that a triathlon would be great for the city and bring exposure and new people to Carson.  Kaiser Permanente came on board as the title sponsor and Tri*Carson was born.

She was right.  In 2011, Denise brought in Charles Johanson and Chris Morrissey to help just prior to the race with race logistics and in 2012 Charles and Chris took over ownership of the race to ensure that it would continue beyond its infancy to what it is now: a great race well known for first time athletes (each year over 50% of participants are doing their first triathlon) as well as a great community race with something for the entire family.

The triathlon is a unique partnership between LB Tri Club (Chris’ and Charles’ group), The City of Carson, California State University Domiguez Hills and Kaiser Permanente.  The race has celebrated 5 years and is looking forward to many more to come.

Proceeds from Tri*Carson benefit a scholarship fund at CSUDH

In 2013 we added a 5k to the event: the Toro 5k with proceeds going to the Athletics Department at CSUDH.
